The History of the Ethno Village Herceg
Courage, patience and skill in revitalizing the authenticity of Herzegovinian houses
For many years, there was a desire to build a structure of appearance and significance in Herzegovina, a structure that will show what Herzegovina once was, how people lived and worked, while at the same time preserve this difficult and arduous way of life from oblivion. It was also a great responsibility towards our grandfathers.
Along with the desire, an idea was also developing, and large financial resources had to be invested. The idea was realized and this little paradise came to life in 2008, to the satisfaction of young and old. A village was built on a rocky outcrop, equipped to symbolize everything that makes up the life and culture of this area.
It is characterized by perfectly shaped stone complemented by wood, horticulture, animal stock, objects and tools from old Herzegovinian homes, as well as original dishes and wines of indigenous grape varieties.
Start of works
The summer of 2007 marked the beginning of works on what would later become one of the most visited destinations in Herzegovina.
